A partnership with Friends of the EarthDigital Art StudiosSonic Arts Research Centre and PS² (Belfast), and Banner Repeater (London)

Our first project in our new space - PS³ - is a reflection on our ongoing work with artist Ami Clarke. Based in London, Ami has been coming to Northern Ireland since 2023 to work with Friends of the Earth Northern Ireland on an expansive project: Meeting the Lough on its own Terms, that prioritises a multi-species perspective in thinking through the complex issues that meant Lough Neagh became overwhelmed with algae blooms in the summer of 2023.

Asking what it would take to develop a more sustainable future for the largest body of water in the UK and Ireland, we probe the entangled nature of ecological systems with financial systems, at the microbial scale of life.

A series of videos and installations provide a view of the Lough from a multi-species perspective, including aerial, underwater, and microscopic views of cyanobacteria, diatoms, the Lough Neagh fly (chironomid) and migrating eels, all informed by a collectively multi-authored text.

A preliminary video with two workshops acts as an initial presentation and introduction to the project, which will expand over the summer months (July - September).

Collective writing and sonic ritual workshops will take place on Saturday 31 May 2025, with further details to follow soon...
